Introduction

myUKinfo wants to encourage advertising on the site to bring relevant promotions and special offers to visitors. Many portal visitors may be interested in buying a wide range of products and services whilst they live and work in the UK. To protect visitors, all advertisers using the myUKinfo site are required to adhere to the myUKinfo Advertising Policy.
 
Advertisers should read this policy carefully to ensure that their advertising is fully compliant. If advertisers fail to comply with this policy, their advert will not be accepted.

Key Principles for Advertising

myUKinfo uses the same principles as the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) Code. This means that all advertising on the sites must:
  • be "legal, decent, honest and truthful" – adverts should not include anything that is likely to cause offence on the grounds of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or disability
  • ­not be misleading. Advertisers need to ensure that all claims in adverts are accurate and unambiguous and can be substantiated. Advertisers should be able back up what they are saying have evidence for any claims
  • ­be prepared to have a sense of responsibility to consumers and society
  • ­respect the principles of fair competition generally accepted by business.

Protecting our Users 

One key objective of myUKinfo is to protect its visitors from inappropriate.  Advertising which contains (or links to) the following types of content will not be accepted. 
  • ­Violent content, racial intolerance, or advocacy against any individual, group, or organization
  • ­Pornography, adult, or mature content
  • ­Hacking/cracking content
  • ­Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia
  • ­Profanity
  • ­Gambling or casino-related content
  • ­Sales or promotion of weapons or ammunition (e.g., firearms, fighting knives, stun guns)
  • ­Sales or promotion of beer or hard alcohol
  • ­Sales or promotion of tobacco or tobacco-related products
  • ­Sales or promotion of prescription drugs
  • ­Sales or promotion of products that are replicas or imitations of designer goods
  • ­Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes on the legal rights of others
  • ­Automatic Downloads or Download Command Boxes
  • ­Hidden or harmful functionality as bundled components of a user approved download e.g: software classified as AdWare/Spyware
  • ­Advertisements that spawn Active X controls
  • ­Any promotion of products or services that are replicas including websites/information that purports to be from elsewhere
  • ­Advertising that misrepresents, ridicules, or attacks an individual or group on the basis of age, color, national origin, race, religion, faith, belief, gender, sexual orientation or disability.

Compliance

All adverts placed on the myUKinfo site must conform to the CAP Code which is enforced and administered by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).  If myUKinfo finds that an advert placed on the site fails to meet the CAP Code requirements, the advert will be immediately removed. 

Location of Adverts

To ensure that myUKinfo site visitors are clear about the difference between editorial content and advertising/sponsorship, all adverts will be positioned on the right hand side of the screen. This area may be available for single “sky scraper” type advertising or may be broken up into smaller areas depending on the requirements of advertisers.

Language Guidance

myUKinfo is designed to offer a resource to migrant workers travelling to or already in the UK. For the majority of these migrant workers, English will not be their first language. Therefore, many of the pages on the myUKinfo website will be translated into their national language. Adverts can also be translated if the advertiser wishes. The advertiser may provide myUKinfo with pre-translated copy or it can be passed to translation services via myUKinfo (see below). 

Translation Services

myUKinfo has access to a team of translators which companies can use when preparing adverts. 

Complaints

Where a visitor believes that any advertising on the myUKinfo site is in violation of the policy laid, they should contact myUKinfo by writing, emailing or telephoning using the details below.
 
 
To protect the advertiser from unfounded complaints, there will be an immediate review of the advert. Where there are clear grounds for complaint or where there is any doubt about the advert it will be removed, the advertiser informed and a formal review undertaken. 

Blanket Advertising

We aim to provide migrant workers with a range of helpful commercial and non-commercial advertising. Therefore no single advertiser will be able to dominate the myUKinfo site with advertising on a large proportion of the pages.

The inclusion of any advert or link should not be taken as an endorsement of any kind by myUKinfo. myUKinfo does not guarantee that products or services advertised on this site have the best prices, the best performance or the best terms or conditions.
 
myUKinfo assumes no responsibility for the contents of linked websites. 
 
myUKinfo has no control over the availability of the linked pages.
 
myUKinfo is not to be held responsible for any breach of the advertising code of practice. 

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

This Agreement will be governed in accordance with English law and each party submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
