Help & Advice

Here you can find information, help and advice on preparing for a new job; including writing a CV and interview help.

When you apply for work you will usually be asked to fill in an application form, as well as provide a CV.  It is important to fill in all the information in the application form.

Writing a CV

A CV (curriculum vitae) or a résumé is a short list of facts about you and your work history, skills and experience. A good CV is important when looking for work.

In your CV you should include:
  • your name
  • your address
  • your phone number
  • your email address (if you have one)
  • your work history (don’t leave gaps between dates, employers will want to know what you have done between jobs)
  • your formal qualifications
  • you interests and other skills (for example computer skills)
  • you references (past employers or people who can provide a personal reference)
