There were many changes in 2011 regarding immigration in the UK.

Some of the changes include:

• Occupations removed from the shortage occupations listunder Tier 2 of the points-based system
• Student visa allowing post study work to be abolished in April 2012 in Tier 1 of the points-based system
• Tougher English language requirementsfor students coming into the UK
