Tax ReturnsThis section provides information on tax returns. If you already pay tax through PAYE (Pay As You Earn) and tax is taken regularly out of your pay, you probably won't need to complete a tax return. But if you have more complicated tax affairs - or income from several sources - you may need to complete one.
Visit the DirectGov website for a listing of who needs to complete a tax return. If you do need to fill out a tax return, the deadline for paper forms is October 31 and the deadline for online forms is January 31, three months later.
If your tax return arrives after the deadline you may be charged a £100 penalty.
