This section provides information on how to write a cheque.

Below are the steps to writing a cheque:
  • write the date on the top right line
  • write the name of the person, company to be paid on the first line
  • write the amount of money (words) to be paid on the second line
  • write the amount of money (numbers) to be paid in the box next to the second line
  • the third line is there if you need more room to write the words of the numbers from the second line
  • sign the cheque with your signature on the bottom right line
  • most cheque books have a section on the far left to record the details of your cheque transaction, for example the date, who the check was paid to and the amount of the cheque
***It is important to always to put a line at the end of any part completed lines on your cheque to stop anyone making changes to the amounts.
