Hospitals

This section provides information about hospitals, walk-in centres and minor injuries units.

If you have more time, and do not need an ambulance, fire service or the police, you can choose the appropriate emergency service. If you're not sure what to do, you can call NHS Direct for advice.

To find the nearest emergency care centre, visit NHS Direct, click on the “emergencies and urgent care” button and select one of the three options below:
  • A&E (Accidents and Emergencies): Choose this option if you have a serious injury or serious illness requiring immediate treatment
     
  • Walk In Centres: Choose this option if you need health advice, emergency contraception and treatment of minor ailments, infections or injuries such as cuts, strains, sprains and broken bones 
     
  • Minor Injuries Unit: Choose this option if you need treatment for cuts, sprains, minor burns or broken bones
After you select an option, type in your postcode, town or area and you will be directed to your local emergency services.
